OBJECTIVES

The aim of this module is to enable participants, through theoretical and practical training, to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries for wind technicians in the wind industry and enable participants to perform their tasks and activities in the safest possible way when working in a wind turbine environment.

After having successfully complete this BST Manual Handling module, the participants will have the ability to take responsibility for the use of essential manual handling principles to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injury when performing physical tasks and activities in the wind industry.

Definition of manual handling: The transporting or supporting of a load (including lifting, putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying, or moving by hand or by bodily force).

TARGET AUDIENCE

Personnel who will be working in the wind industry or related fields and will have their duties in a wind turbine environment, usually in physical contact with a wind turbine or WTG structure. 

Personnel that perform job functions that have been risk assessed by their employer or their workplace duty holder as a function, where training according to one or more modules of the BST standard may mitigate of the identified risks

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum age of 18 years;
  • Valid certificate of medical fitness;
  • Winda ID
  • Furthermore, personnel in the wind service industry must be able to read and write to a sufficient standard to be able to carry out instructions and complete the required documentation.
  • It is an advantage if participants are able to read, speak and write English.

COURSE

  •   ½ Day
  • Language: English

CONTENT

  • Introduction to the training;
  • Injuries, symptoms and essential manual handling principles;
  • Warm up activities;
  • Manual Handling principles.

VALIDITY CERTIFICATE

  • Valid for a period of 2 years.
  • Thereafter the delegate is required to maintain the validity of the certificate by completing a refresher course of each module.
